Bridge Magazine
'THE BRIDGE' is the Godmanchester Community Association's annual read delivered free to every household in Godmanchester. It was originally produced between 1980 and 1986 by a team headed by Anne and Charles Looker and printed by hand on a Gestetner printer that used carbon paper technology. This version was delivered 3 times a year in Spring, Summer and Winter. In 1987 Alan Hooker was tasked to produce an annual glossy version that would achieve a more professional look with a view to attracting advertising revenue to cover its cost. This was in the days of typewriters where the spellchecker was a dictionary and 'Tippex' was the delete! Editing was done with scissors and a Pritt stick. Stuart Bonds arrival on the team, along with his computer, changed all that and in his first edition as editor in 1998 we saw the first use of colour in the 2 ducks on the front cover. Since then we have gone to full colour with a couple of editors along the way. It is our intention to reproduce all copies in this section of the website. If you have any copies of the pre-1987 editions we would be pleased to hear from you with a view to scanning them.
