Julia Knight
Julia Knight, 1950-2011
Julia died on Thursday 21st April 2011. It was to have been Julia's 61st birthday on the following Monday, her passing has left all who knew her devastated.
Julia was born and raised in Inverness and was very proud of her Scottish heritage never losing her Scottish twang when in conversation. She moved south when she married her late husband Graham, who flew with the RAF. Julia and Graham had 2 children, Heather an Karl , and 3 grandchildren , Kyle, Maddie and Max. Julia worked for many years as a registered nurse at Hinchingbrooke Hospital but had to retire a few years ago due to health problems. More recently she was chairperson of the Huntingdon Speakability Group, dedicated to helping stroke victims regain their speech.
Julia's mischievous sense of humour and ability to hold centre stage at a party made her one of the most entertaining and loved people I have ever come across. Everyone who ever met her will have a fun tale to tell of the experience, and Godmanchester will certainly be a little less colourful without her.
In loving memory Alan and Kathy Hooker
A celebration of the life of Julia was held at St Mary The Virgin Church, Godmanchester on Tuesday 3rd May 2011.
The following poem was written for and read to the congregation by Julia's close friend Jeni .
WE ARE HERE TODAY TO SAY GOODBYE
BUT ALL I HEAR IS HER VOICE BY MY SIDE SAYING....''.HELLO....I'M HERE''
WITH HER RED LIPSTICK ON OF COURSE!
I REMEMBER HOW WE LAUGHED
HAVING MEALS AND....MORE WINE
BEING GIGGLY AND SILLY
WHEN WE ALL FELT FINE!!
WITH RED LIPSTICK ON OF COURSE!
REMEMBER ALL THE HAPPINESS SHE GAVE
AND ALL THE DREAMS WE SHARED
THE FUNNY STORIES SHE TOLD
WE MUSTN'T BE SAD
WE NEED TO BE BOLD
WITH RED LIPSTICK ON OF COURSE!
REMEMBER HOW LOVELY SHE LOOKED
HER HAIR ALWAYS IN STYLE
TRENDY CLOTHES....MATCHING BAG ....AND SHOES SMILING HER BEAUTIFUL SMILE WITH HER RED LIPSTICK ON OF COURSE!
NOW SHE WILL DANCE IN THE SKY
ON LAUGHTER....SILVERED WINGS
SHE MAY CALL OUT....DON'T CRY
I'M SEEING BEAUTIFUL THINGS
WITH MY RED LIPSTICK ON OF COURSE!
JULIA IS NOT APART FROM US
BUT HERE IN OUR HEART
IF WE LOVE HER SHE WILL BE THERE
TILL ETERNITY.....NEVER APART
WITH HER RED LIPSTICK ON OF COURSE!
